Odds and ends

It has been suggested to me by one of my oldest friends that some people prefer to use snail mail rather than PayPal. I understand perfectly. If any one of you would like to use the US Postal service, please let me know. I will be glad to send you a packet of pre-addressed envelopes for you convenience. Just email me with your mailing address, and I will send them off to you.

Also, I am encouraged that so many of you have been reading the journal. I hope that they can continue to be a blessing to you.

I am writing this journal on Sunday, April 26th. I am a week behind in my journal, but hope to get to it next weekend. My time at Jed Smock's home is done, and tomorrow I will be preaching one last time at Mizzou, and then I am heading back east. Here is my schedule for the upcoming week.

Monday - Mizzou
Tuesday - Indiana State University
Wednesday - Ohio State University
Thursday - Mansfield State University in Mansfield, PA
Friday - Mansfield State University in Mansfield, PA
Saturday - Meeting at Kingdom Company to plan a summer county wide event, to include a school of evangelism, taught by me, and open air practical experience on the street of north central Pennsylvania.

Please pray for me for safe travel, and fruitful preaching sessions.

Monday - Bleah

Monday, the 13th, was cold and windy, with intermittent rain. We did not go out. I stayed home and did some computer work

Fickle fair weather hecklers

Tuesday, the 14th, Jed and I went out even though the weather was cold, cold, cold. Jed tried for 2 hours to gather a crowd. He brought to the campus preaching a new tool - a crucifix on a walking staff. It added a dramatic flair to his preaching. However after 2 hours, he wasn't connecting, and my fingers were tingling. I had not packed winter gear on this trip. It was too cold, so we packed it in and went home.

The weather finally broke for us

Wednesday, the 15th, dawned beautiful. Sunshiny and warm in the mid 60's Jed started out preaching and built the crowd eventually to 60-70's. We held the crowd all day. We alternated preaching 3 times.

My focus this day was talking about how Jesus was considered a heretic, bringing in all kinds of "new" doctrines, while in reality He was taking mankind back to how things were before the fall. Jesus restored the way to God open from from the very beginning.

It is simple really. Not anything new, but overpowered by a view put forth by God's enemy, Satan.

Adam before the fall listened to God. They walked together in the cool of the evening and talked. If Adam had continued in that relationship, he would have come to know good and evil, and everything would have been just peachy. But Adam was given an alternate path to Godliness. Satan deceived Adam into thinking that merely by acquiring the "Knowledge of Good and Evil", that was sufficient to make one like God. Intellectual pursuit as the means of perfecting man has been one of the foundational beliefs of mankind ever since.

Because Adam took the alternate path, sin entered in and man's heart was darkened. Ever since Satan has been using the very same lie to turn people away from following God as Adam was supposed to follow.

Along came the patriarchs of the Bible. What was the same about all of them, without exception, is that they LISTENED to God. Abraham believed God and it was imputed to him as righteousness. Not only Abraham, but Isaac, and Jacob, and many many more down through history. They listened to God.

Prior to the writing of the Bible, there was no other way to know God, except to listen. Those old time street preachers, the prophets, listened. Everybody who was of note in the Bible heard and listened to God. In fact the very covenant that God made with Israel incorporated listening as the foundation of all God's blessings and curses.

De 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

What God wanted was for Israel to listen to Him, just as Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses did. But by the time that Jesus came along, many centuries before, the nation of Israel was deceived by the same lie as Adam. Obtain knowledge and you will be like God. Israel had been for centuries trying to find God by studying what God had said to other men in other times. It was all second hand knowledge, which is not the same as God telling you something directly.

So when Jesus confronted the religious leaders of His day, He said this to them:

Joh 5:39-40 You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me; yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

Jesus was attempting to restore Israel to the path that God selected way back in Deuteronomy, chapter 28.

All Satan has to do to destroy the church is to deceive her again into thinking that all we have to do is study what other men said about God in another time and place. Paul said this:

Ro 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Today we are given the Holy Spirit so that we can fulfill what God has always wanted - a people who will listen to Him and obey. The alternate path, the acquisition of knowledge about God is not enough. We must listen and obey.

In this picture, there are two coeds making a documentary. Apparently some friends of theirs had never heard of such a thing, so they were making a documentary to show them. They were out taping several days. Toward the end of the next week, I did a long interview for them and was able to explain the hidden wisdom in what God has ordained in street preaching.

I challenged a Jewish Boy. I doubt he every heard the way to God explained that way. I further challenged him with a verse out of Isaiah

Let me ask you two simple questions. He agreed, I read for him this passage:

Isa 31:4-5 For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

I emphasized the parts about "coming down", "flying like birds", and "passing over he will preserve it." Then I asked him if this was a passage about the Messiah of Israel. He responded "Yes".

I read him the very next verse:

Isa 31:6 Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.

Then I asked my second question. What other name than Jesus have the children of Israel DEEPLY revolted. He was not able to respond. I think he realized there is not other name in the entire history of Israel against which they have rebelled. The only doctrine common to all sects of Judaism is the one that says you can not be a Jew and believe in Jesus.

Sometime in the future, I will tell you where that particular doctrine comes from.

I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions - Pr 8:12

Thursday the 16th, the weather was perfect. We were able to gather a good crowd and hold them till 5:00 PM. Jed turned the crowd over to me when the subject turned onto the subject of science. The crowd was very unruly, and I had some difficulty in keeping on track. I always love the subject of science. That is the one area where I feel most qualified.

I always challenge the students to show me just one piece of solid evidence that evolution has occurred. They, true to form, could not. I went over a number of geological evidences that point directly to the flood:
(!) Parallel layering of the rock layers
(2) Bending of the rock layers without crushing the layers
(3) Vast deposits of water rounded rocks and gravel all over the globe
(4) Mountain ranges made up of only water rounded rocks, boulders, and gravel
(5) The age of the Mississippi delta (6,000 years)
(6) The age of the Niagara gorge (7,000 years)

I was able to convince the fellow in
the green shirt on the right, of the
truth of ceasing from sin and
living a holy life.

But as I said, they were very frivolous. I could not pursue it as well as I would have liked.

So I introduced to the students my newest invention. It is called "The Fail-safe Darwin Test Taking Machine". Here is how it works. They take the machine to each test. It consists of a cardboard box and a pencil.

All the student has to do to sail through school with a perfect 4.0 average is to put each test in the box, along with the pencil, close the box tight, then shake the box as hard as they can for the time allotted for the test. Using the logic applied by evolutionists, they certainly would have to get all perfect scores, No? Random chance, and undirected energy results in all the massive design and complexity of the earth. Surely a simple test would be no match for the magic of evolutionary principles.

Of course, if the test is an essay test, the motion would have to be not only violent shaking but also spinning and throwing up in the air. Consequently, it might take a little longer to take an essay test. Certainly, complexity and specificity are no match for random motion and time.

They did not buy it. I wonder why. They are willing to place their eternal fate on it. How much lesser importance is a silly old test.

My second preach I tried to nail them down to the fact that there is no shortage of evidence for creation. The overwhelming preponderance of evidence from all branches of science point to creation. Their problem is not that there is not enough evidence to convince them. It is that they can not stand to give up their sin.

Whose glory is in their shame

Friday, the 17th, was a perfect day to preach, I would have married Friday if possible. Jed started up, while I parked the car. When I arrived at Speakers Circle, Jed had a small crowd wandering in and sitting down on the steps.

When lo and behold, we are not alone. A crowd of students, all wearing a T-shirt with "90%" printed on the front, and this explanation on the back:

"of transgender students experienced verbal harassment at school in the past year because of their sexual orientation and gender expression."

We were unaware that Friday was the big Day of Silence - a silent protest about all the persecution that cross dressers, transsexuals, and those with gender identity problems experience.

Being encircled like this makes it
difficult to preach because the
demonstrators bodies absorb so
much of the voice volume.

Jed bore with them as they encircled him, and raised up our standard against them. The crucified Christ can set them free from their sins, but they do not want to be set free. Instead they want to be validated in their perversions.

Unfortunately, there is no understanding whatsoever in the university that not every cause that paints itself as a "civil rights" cause should be supported. I want to be around when the pedophiles demand to have the administrator's children, as the sodomites demanded to have the angels sent to destroy Sodom and Gomorra.

When they encircled Jed, I took my camera to get some shots for our journals. I went up to the circle, between two students and raised my camera pointing toward Jed. They lifted their arms in front of the camera and bumped the camera. I reached up to deflect their arms from my camera. Immediately, the students began yelling "ASSAULT, ASSAULT". I backed up and moved to the right. At the next opening, the students had their arms raised, so I ducked under them to get inside of the circle. They dropped their arms and bopped me on the top of my head as I passed under.

Then the wicked witch of the west made her debut. "Don't touch my students, she screeched at me."

"Then don't have them touch me", I replied.

Said she, "I'm calling the police". What a paragon of tolerance and acceptance.

Well, the lesbian advisor called the university police. She was calling when I took this picture. I went over to her and asked her her name, but she refused to give it to me. She wanted to know why I wanted to know her name. I answered, "For the lawsuit of course".

"What lawsuit?", she asked.

"For assault. Your students bopped me on the head when I tried to enter into the circle." She still wouldn't give me her name but I said, "It doesn't matter, I'll get it from the police report"

Before too long, an officer with a dog arrived and talked to the lesbian advisor. After a couple of minutes he came over to me for my version of the events. I guess the adviser had had a change of heart because the officer said they did not want to make an issue about it. (I wonder why). Nonetheless, he chewed me out.

"We had problems with you last year" (My chair had been expropriated by a heckler who would not get off of it. I pulled it out from under him. Later that heckler broke the chair). "Can't you just stay away from them? Maybe they didn't want pictures taken of them."

I explained to the officer that I was not taking pictures of them, but of Jed. And they were actively trying to keep me from moving around the area. The phrase "unlawful restraint" came to mind.

"Well", he said, just stay away from them".

About that time I was thinking "Why is it every time your students behave badly, I'm the one that gets warned?" I didn't say anything.

Here is the Maneater article about the demonstration. http://www.themaneater.com/stories/2009/4/20/students-staff-gather-day-silence

Toward the end of the demonstration, a number of participants took off their T-shirts, and became vocal. Jed was able to address a small group for about an hour and a half.

While Jed was answering their questions, I got a chance to pray for a man who had a severe speech impediment. He was not immediately healed, much to my sorrow.

Please pray with me, friends and complete strangers, that God would manifest His power and glory as He did at the beginning. We need more. Our intellect, our reasoning, our understanding falls short of being able to penetrate their veil of darkness. I know what will pierce that veil:

Joh 17:22-23 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

It is by the glory that God is able to reveal to the world that He sent Jesus and that He loves them as much as He loves Jesus.

Pray for the glory to fall on the preachers. Let the harvest begin.

See you next week,

Bro

Once again please consider supporting my ministry.  If you can't support me yourself, would you be able to give me any contacts you have of churches that might be open to my ministry as I travel? Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.
